Determining the correct value of your audience can be a complex process that’s difficult to sat­isfactorily unravel, and, for many publishers, it’s often an arbitrary and manual one. You know that you could increase revenue by lowering or raising your prices, by refining pricing from day to day, or by bundling certain types of inventory together. Acting on that knowledge can be complicated because supply and demand relationships are extremely complex. In addition, rate cards are unresponsive to market conditions, often separated from other systems, and can’t always be enforced.

Microsoft’s Price Director is a decision support software tool that helps pricing analysts understand price-response relationships across product portfolios and set optimized, rational, data-driven rate cards to maximize and manage the yield from available inventory. Price Director’s pricing solutions allow users to define product rate cards and price floors, and manage products throughout their lifecycle by using effectivity dates and product introduction capabilities. Price Director’s Scenarios also allow you to set market assumptions (e.g. total addressable market, competitor prices, and competitor introductions). What-if analyses can be performed over multiple Price Plans and Scenarios and over multiple products and time periods. Price Director also provides custom-defined reports that help publishers evaluate and compare the absolute and/or relative performance of alternative Price Plans.
